Ángel Lizcano (1846-1929) at the age of fourteen entered the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, directed by Federido de Madrazo. He completed his training at the Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving, and he copied the great masters of the Prado Museum. Among his varied subject matter we can highlight the small paintings with figures and environments of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, genre scenes or well captured from nature where he let his imagination fly.
