Joaquin Mir is one of the most important Catalan painters of the 20th century. He is considered one of the greatest exponents of painting immediately after modernism, creator of a very personal post-impressionism. His most personal style is based on his own and surely unconscious overcoming of impressionist painting, based on a free intuitive vision of the landscape based on stains and masses of color that synthesize the real appearance, often bordering on abstraction. He exhibited regularly in galleries in Barcelona, Madrid, Washington, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Venice. His influence was so strong in the following generations of landscape painters, to the point that it is necessary to explain Mir to explain the Catalan paganism.
