José Armet (1843-1911) began his training at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and later moved to Rome where he was in contact with Mariano Fortuny. He participated in the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1864, obtaining an honorable mention and in 1866 obtaining the third medal. All his work is dedicated to landscape, portrait and genre painting.
